An Old Anglican Prayer

I was listening to a sermon by Alastair Begg the other day, during which he prayed the simple prayer below.  The simplicity of the prayer really caught my attention.  And yet, I thought, if one were to pray the words sincerely — consider how vast and profound the outcome of the prayer would be!

Hold that thought as you read the prayer.  And then, will you dare to pray it?

“Father, what we do not know, teach us;

What we have not; give us,

What we are not, kindly make us

For Your Son’s sake.

Amen.”

~ an Old Anglican Prayer

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

~ Psalm 51:10
