“And they said to one another,
‘Did not our heart BURN WITHIN US
while [Jesus] talked with us on the road,
and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

Beautiful, fine flakes of snow are falling outside my window right now, which always reminds me of Isaiah 55:10-11, a picture of how God’s word works.
"As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
Earlier in this same chapter, God says, “‘My thoughts are not your thoughts. Nor are your ways My ways,’ says the Lord. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.'” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
Chris Tomlin beautifully combined the paradox of God’s ways with a winter snow. Read the lyrics below or listen to the song at the end of this post, and be blessed on this cold winter day…
“Winter Snow”
~ by Chris Tomlin
(You) Could’ve come like a mighty storm
With all the strength of a hurricane
You could’ve come like a forest fire
With the power of Heaven in Your flame
But You came like a winter snow
Quiet and soft and slow
Falling from the sky in the night
To the earth below
You could’ve swept in like a tidal wave
Or an ocean to ravish our hearts
You could have come through like a roaring flood
To wipe away the things we’ve scarred
But You came like a winter snow, yes, You did
You were quiet, You were soft and slow
Falling from the sky in the night
To the earth below
Ooh no, Your voice wasn’t in a bush burning
No, Your voice wasn’t in a rushing wind
It was still, it was small, it was hidden
Oh, You came like a winter snow
Quiet and soft and slow
Falling from the sky in the night
To the earth below
Falling, oh yeah, to the earth below
You came falling from the sky in the night
To the earth below
